Of recent, the Vice-Dean of the Division of Students' Affairs, OAU, proclaimed at a summit organized by ACJOAU that "We gave the last administration of the Union a sum 2.5million naira and they expended it in just three days."
However, the Financial Secretary of the union during the last administration has countered Dr. Afolabi's claims saying that the union only received two disbursements, the first being 2million naira and the other 1.5million naira and that the third disbursement did not materialize due to the suspension of the Union. The former Financial Secretary of the Union then challenged the Vice-Dean to present evidences substantiating his claims.
Reacting to the whole saga, the former Financial Secretary of Angola Hall of Residence and a 300-level Political Science student, Ologun Temidayo Ochuko(a.k.a,YelloBantty) in an interview with Radar news network made certain submissions.
According to Mr "YelloBantty", "the alleged accusations made by Dr. Afolabi on the mismanagement of 2.5million by the past union administration as raised eyebrows and attracted criticism on the part of the recently passed administration. Nonetheless, in a sane and democratic society such as ours, concrete evidences is required of the accuser and the accused as touching the sensitivity of this very issue. As the intellectuals we are, I maintain therefore that our criticism and judgment ought to be based on FACTS and nothing more."
On the state of the Union Mr. YelloBantty had this to say... "all efforts and resources at this point in time should be articulated towards the reinstatement of an independent and vibrant union. We shouldn't allow any unnecessary digression of focus towards meager issues as this will not aid in anyway our just struggle for the protection of the interest, life and property of students which only is possible with the existence of a vibrant union structure consisting of effective and efficient union leaders".
