Read the interview she had with Radar news network:
Interviewer:
First.... Tell us about yourself?
Miss Tourism Osun:
My name is Adegbite ADEPEJU Deborah. I am from a family of 6, the second and the only female child. I am a student of Obafemi Awolowo University and a part 3 student of the department of linguistics and African Languages.
I am into modelling and beauty pageantry. I am 22years of age, a Christian, the current vice president 2 of National Association of Osun State Students(OAU chapter) and also the treasurer of my department as well the assistant class representative of my class.
Am 5'6 feet tall,and I am dark-complexioned.
My favorite colour is purple because it stands for royalty
My hobbies are making friends, meeting people, travelling, cooking, modelling, dressing up and listening to music.
I like honesty, neatness
I dislike looking down on people, gossiping, dirtiness and dulling myself
I'm of the baptist denomination.
I'm currently the Miss Tourism of the state of Osun and the former Miss Osun OAU chapter.
Interviewer: what is the motive behind beauty pageantry?
Miss Tourism Osun:
build myself in terms of confidence
To show people what I've got, that am not only Beautiful but am Bold and Brilliant (the 3 Big Bs).
Interviewer:
How have you been able to cope with academics and being a beauty pageant?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Yeah... Seriously, at the beginning, it wasn't easy cos I needed to meet people. Being the first Miss tourism in the state of Osun, I together with the organisers of the event need to let them know the office of Miss tourism now exists in the state. Right now, am fully on campus, attending lectures. But once in a while I just must attend events organized by the state government.
Interviewer:
As the first miss tourism in the state, what do you understand by tourism?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Hmmm... Tourism in my own view is the marketing of the enjoyable and other features of a travel destination, and provision of facilities and services for the pleasure of travelers(tourists).
Interviewer :
How do you think Tourism can be importance to the State?
Miss Tourism Osun:
There is no state without at least a tourist center. Tourist centers sometimes attracts business men from all over the world to make establishment in a particular state. Let me cite hotels as an example, foreign visitors coming around to see a tourist center in a state needs a place to stay after they have had fun. This alone is a very good source of fund for the state government cos owners of hotels must pay their tax.
Also, visitors pay at the entrance of tourist centers, part of the gate fee goes to the ministry of tourism. If there are lots of establishment as a result of tourist centers, the state is going to develop, rural areas will gradually turn to urban area, there will be job opportunities, the state itself will be highly recognized, there are also other benefits.
Interviewer:
What plans do you have as Miss Tourism, Osun?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Presently, I have my projects on ground. I already carried out one during the children's day at Ooni of ife's palace With the Olori. I have a cultural night that will be coming up before the end of this year. I am planning Osun festival at the end of the year. An empowerment program for the less privileged will come up in Oshogbo , this is in conjunction With Queen Osun and the state government. I am also planning touring round tourist centers in Ife and on that same day, participants are gonna party till day break. I am working on documentaries about our tourist centers in the state of Osun, this will be showcased on TV stations in and outside the state of Osun.
Interviewer:
Why do you like about pageantry?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Like is not the word, I love it! What really is the cause is the fact that all beauty Queens, both past and present are big ladies. They go to places, they are recognized. With my crown and sash, I can walk up to any individual without being stopped by anybody. Also, pageantry makes one an automatic ambassador, people will always want see and hear from a beauty Queen. Queens are always well connected. To mention but few.
Interviewer:
How did you get to become miss tourism, Osun?
Miss Tourism Osun:
I would have contested last year, but then I was still having the Omidan Osun title on OAU campus. I got the form by March and went to camp by April. The competition was on the 16th of April. And I did so well adding the OAU aluta stuff(smiles) I can say that in addition to my boldness, I stood out because of my good knowledge in Yoruba language which other Lagos babes dont really have.
Interviewer:
Between omidan Osun and miss tourism, Osun, which one do you think would give you the better platform to serve humanity?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Miss tourism Osun of course. Cos now, am closer to the government . I can serve as a link between people, most especially the youth and the government.
Interviewer:
Did you contest for miss Osun or you just went for miss tourism??
Miss Tourism Osun:
I contested for both.
Interviewer:
Would you have prefered to be miss Osun rather than being Miss Tourism, Osun?
Miss Tourism Osun:
No. The reason is, the current Queen Osun cannot vie for any contest in the state next year. But I still have another chance of vying for Queen Osun. This will further strengthen the link I have in my state before going to the outside world.
Interviewer:
As a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, you did say you are studying Linguistics and African Languages, why the choice of that course?
Miss Tourism Osun:
Smiles... Linguistics and African languages is the name of my department. In my department, we have linguistics students and Yoruba students. Am proud to tell you that am a Yoruba student. I chose it when I was filling my Jamb form. My love for Yoruba started right from my secondary school days. I used to lead my class mates then . Am telling you that, my knowledge in Yoruba language really helped me in all the competitions I have been to. Because Yoruba students are taught both in English and Yoruba languages. We have knowledge also in other fields. But other contestants always fail when it comes to Yoruba aspect of contests. In fact ehn, as far as the Miss tourism contest is concerned, it was at the Traditional appearance that some of the contestants were evicted from stage because of their bad usage of Yoruba language. I chose Yoruba language in the start because of three good readons:
1. my love for that course while in secondary school. I led my set in Yoruba language all through
2. My love for yoruba culture and tradition. I want to know more
3. I want to stand out! You may be wondering how? Most of my friends are studying law and English. I don't want to follow crowd. I want to follow my passion. When I started as a diploma student 5 years ago, most of my friends then used to laugh at me that I am studying ordinary Yoruba. Some would hiss, etc. But today, they bow. And some of them are now ashamed. This is so because of all the achievements I have been able to achieve as an 'ordinary' Yoruba student.
Interviewer: Hope being a student has not been affecting your duties as a beauty queen?
Miss Tourism Osun:I am coping definitely. Some of my courses right now have been chosen when I was a diploma student. And I no longer offer restricted elective courses. And my course mates have been so wonderful as regards the time table. These make it so easy for me.
Interviewer: You did mention being a diploma student, tell us about that...
Miss Tourism Osun: Yeah. I was a diploma student for two years before I came in fully in 2014. I got admitted as a diploma student in 2012. I wasn't happy then cos all my friends then were admitted fully. Then, I was not considered as a full time student and could not participate in so many things. But today, I thank God I passed through diploma. I see it as an extra time. If I have graduated last session, I won't have been able to think of involving in so many activities today. It is not how fast but how well..
Interviewer: You mean you did Diploma in Linguistics and African Languages?
Miss Tourism Osun: Yes.
Interviewer:On OAU Campus?
Miss Tourism Osun:Yes.
Interviewer:So,miss Peju, what is your relationship status? I am sure, most people out there want to know
Miss Tourism Osun: I am single.
Interviewer: What is your philosophy about life?
Miss Tourism Osun: One should not forget one's solace
Interviewer:What advice do you have for Youths out there?
Miss Tourism Osun: I am a lady of few words. BE YOURSELF! Don't ever copy anyone. One man's meat is another man's poison. No one knows it all and you can't satisfy everybody. Set goals, follow them up, and be the best you can be. Anything you have interest in, surf the internet and read about people that have been into it in the past and presently. That will ginger you to work more on yourself so that they can read about you as well. Don't wait till you are out of school. It may be too late then . Start now, pray fervently, eat and rest. The body is the carrier of your dream, so take good care of it. Build your confidence, you can do it! And always look good. Be neat and simple. God bless you all. I love you all....

A student of Obafemi Awolowo University,Adekunle, in an interview with one of our correspondents had this to say :
"Prof. Elujoba is a good man and one of the best Vice-chancellors OAU has ever had. I feel he did the right thing by paying OAU staff the money owed them. Another student who pleaded on the grounds of anonymity had this to say," Prof Bamitale was accused of corruption, yet he wasn't treated this way. I don't think he was even taken to court. What kind of country are we? This man(Prof. Elujoba) did nothing wrong as far as I am concerned .Paying staff allowances isn't wrong and come to think of it, he saved us from another crisis. "
We would recall that Prof Elujoba and Miss Akeredolu were invited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission office in Ibadan a while back for quizzing as regards the payment of OAU workers' allowances, salaries and arrears.
Professor Elujoba and Mrs Akeredolu are to appear before the Oshogbo state high Court, sitting in Ede,on the 7th of July, 2017.

This year, 2017, does mark the 50th year(golden jubilee) cum anniversary of Lagos being a state within the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We should not be quick to forget that this same area was at a time a colony of Britain in 1861, before it was amalgamated to be part of the southern and northern protectorate of Nigeria in 1914 by the then Governor-General, Lord Lugard.
It is also fact that it had once held the position of being capital of Lagos(technically/officially) and it does has a rich history as part of the over 50 years old Republic Republic of Nigeria.
The state has grown and as at 2007 population census, ranked second in Nigeria, trailing behind Kano. It is seen as the commercial nerve of Nigeria and maybe the "business centre" of the country. As a matter of fact, it is seen as a metropolis and is gradually transforming into a megacity.
However, no country or state is without challenges. Since the inception of the Akinwunmi Ambode administration, Lagos has developed tremendously as he did lay new standards and continued with laudable projects commenced by his predecessor.
Security in Lagos has been technically good but issues still abound, especially in the main lands of Lagos- Ikorodu axis, Kosofe, Bayeku and Ibeshe axis, Isawo and Agric.
For over a year or so, there have been killings in Agric by persons suspected to be Ijaws from South-south geographical zone. These persons are alleged to rob and steal from their victims and eventually end up killing them.
Residents of the affected area(Agric) did lay their grievances and cried out but the matter wasn't attended to in time. We are not sure if the onslaught of persons in the area has stopped officially. The question is, why the stealing and killings?
From the research we made, the Ijaws seem not to like the emergence of Mohammadu Buhari and they feel their person (Goodluck Jonathan) was "slied". A version of the reasons for the killings and stealing Posits that(allegedly) that these Ijaws engage vehemently in oil bunkering and vandalism but they've lost their grip on their supposed cum illegal means of livelihood due to certain security measures put in place by the Federal and state Government.
Examining areas like Ikorodu central, Odogunyan, Ikorodu Garage, we do hear of cases of cult group clashes at regular intervals. I do commend the "Onyabo group"( a security outfit) which has succeeded in reducing the operations of these groups.
Just recently, an hydra-headed security issue arose, the killings of people by a group popularly called " Bhadoo".
This group first started their Onslaught of humans in Ibeshe,Lagos. Residents in the area claim that they would enter a house around 12-4am, rape females and kill everyone in that house using a stone made completely with(of) cement.
The latest news heard of them is that they did wipe out a whole family in Adamo, Ikorodu North local council development area. Most people in the area are fleeing for their life, confusion has rented the area, most families and individuals cannot sleep with their two eyes closed. They live in perpetual fear.
Speaking with a resident of Adamo, he did say this, "We want the Federal government and Lagos state government to come to our rescue. Most of my neighbors have abandoned their homes and most of us sleep in fear after the awful incident that happened recently,we appeal that security agencies be deployed to our area, the Federal and state government should tighten up security of lives and property-we would also be on the lookout ".
In an attempt to know the origin of the bhadoo group or how they operate. It was discovered that their paymasters most likely are politicians and some wealthy individuals.
A guy was said to be apprehended in Ibeshe while trying to rape a lady, on interrogation, he did confess that he was a member of the dreaded "bhadoo" group and they do work for politicians and some wealthy people. He did also shed light on their modus de operandi.
Sincerely and honestly speaking, the Federal government and even the Governor Ambode Administration should really look for ways and means of strengthening security within the state especially her mainlands.
I think at this juncture, residents of areas in Lagos that have been ravaged by killings and stealing should not totally depend on security agencies-it is high time they also made use of local vigilante groups cum security outfits to serve as support for the existing security agencies that may be deployed by the government.
Lagos is a state with diverse ethnic groups and persons, a state loved by all but it would be very weird if this same state is marred -killings, security issues in the main land if not controlled may become a national or big security problem/challenge.

To all Nigerian Students, smartbrains fans, and lovers of education...
_____________________________
Education is the best legacy, They say. But it is rather disheartening how this very important aspect for the overall development of the human life is hitting bottom low in terms of standard and productivity in Nigeria.
Talking of Education, according to Wikipedia, “Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits”. Looking closely at this definition, it depicts education as a process that is not limited to the four walls of a classroom. It is a process that leads to a development of the thinking, behavioral and intellectual capability of a man.
Shifting our gaze to Nigeria, Our system of education in the ancient times had brought about a high level of productivity. This is simply due to the fact that the westerners that brought Nigeria to this light had done so at the level at which the world was operating on, in the 19th and 20th century.
Prior to the advent of western education in Nigeria, Nigerians basically had two forms of education, the Islamic education and the indigenous education. The Islamic education taught children within the age bracket of five, things pertaining to Islam and the Arabic language. This kind of education was prominent in the northern part of the country. While the indigenous form of education was widely practiced in the western, southern and eastern parts. In this case, children were divided into age groups and assigned different tasks in the society. Children within the age group of two learnt sweeping and other basic cleaning procedures by constantly doing such activities. The older ones learnt farming and other specific trades like wood carving or drumming. This system of primitive education was just enough to survive in the Nigeria of those days.
Formal western education was introduced by the British missionaries in the mid 1800s. This movement was spear-headed by the Anglican church missionary society (CMS), which stared several schools. They built schools in different regions of the then Northern and southern protectorates.
This new system of education had very little acceptability from Nigerian parents then. But it was optimally a representation of the stage of world development. It had the least growth in the north, but a dramatic growth in the eastern part of Nigeria. Its infiltration into the way of life of the people of the west was of a mixed feeling, subjecting the system to a slow but steady growth.
Soon after independence from the British ‘school-masters’, education was made compulsory for all Nigerian children.
Since the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, the world had changed drastically, and so has its educational system.
Nigeria as an integral part of the world had also embraced the change the world had brought. Even the thinking of the now-Nigerian child has changed.
But in-spite of this change, it is unfortunate that the educational system of the giant of Africa has remained adamant to change.
World education has gone beyond just subjecting students to theoretical things alone. It has gone beyond just reading in books and not seeing them as they work for real.
But Nigeria is so stuck up to its out of date methods of learning. The practicality is not there. Government has refused to update the educational system to meet the standard of the world. Or probably, the modern system is too cost-demanding for the government to handle. And government is not willing to invest so much into it. The world has even gotten to the stage of virtual reality.
Veering from the issues with the government, the issues with us, Nigerian students, when viewed from a particular angle is also a major setback to our education.
We, as the 21st century persons have a flare for fun, entertainment and innovation. But all this characteristics of ours is in contrast to the old education system that was meant for minds with little technological exposure.
I have been exposed to the internet, why would I want to go and spend long hours searching for a book in the library, when I could easily get a Pdf file online and make into hard copy if I want to.
Notwithstanding, this configuration of the 21st century student doesn’t scrap out the fact that we need education. It is the best legacy.
But to combine education and the nature we carry, you would agree with me that we need a single platform that is able to educate, entertain, inform and impart us.
Since the government is still a long way from catering for this need, we can turn to the internet. If only there could be a platform that would cater for these our four basic needs for full development; education, information, entertainment and impartation.
In terms of education, a platform that will provide; an e-library, forums to take online test and assessments, tutorials, forums for discussions with students of various other higher institutions, scholarship and admission updates, and a medium to get materials and other utilities via online transfer.
The access to information is a very crucial aspect of human life. This cannot be given in the Nigerian classroom of today, but there is a huge need for it. Hence the need for a platform that gives students up to date information on happenings in their immediate society and the world at large. Information related to sport, entertainment, news, lifestyle, health tips, campus, gist, articles and stories.
Furthermore, adequate entertainment is required to relax the mind and body of students, after been subjected to stress by the lacking Nigerian schools. A platform that provides the latest music, shows that are edu-taining and tours of other places in the country.
A student that is able to get a perfect blend of these three important issues is certain to excel, not only in the classroom but also in the outside world.
In lieu of this, a single platform that provides these three requirements can be affirmed to have imparted the life of students.
I want to believe and I know you do too, that there is a cogent need for such a single platform that is able to educate, entertain, inform and in turn impart students in Nigeria.
The breakthrough of the 21st century technology- the internet is able to provide such a platform that will be within the reach of millions of students.
It would be awesome to simply log on to a single website and get all that we need at our finger tip.
In all we saw the need for a 21st Century platform which in turn will Educate ,Entertain ,Inform & Impart the Students .....This platform is bound to Directly or indirectly move this Great Nation forward... The Question is where is this platform/Brand ? What is this Platform ? How can I get to this platform ? .....But don't worry the team is working day and night to put things in place for all ,therefore the platform is Ready & will be unveiled soon ,Therefore Anticipate!!!
In SMARTBRAINS ,We Educate ,Inform & Impart because in all you do as a student/youth ,your Success is always our pride .....
God bless Nigeria.
God bless All students.

On the 13th of December, 2016, the Acting Vice-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University honored the invitation extended to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Office, had sent a letter to the Acting Vice-chancellor of the School and the School's Bursar(Mrs Aderonke Akeredolu) in the first week of December, inviting them for quizzing as regards allegations of the mismanagement of over #1bn naira.
The invitation came as a result of the petition sent to EFCC by certain persons claiming that the Acting Vice-chancellor of OAU diverted a sum of #1.4bn meant for Projects to pay workers' allowances and other purposes without approval from the Ministry of education and the institution's governing Council.
The Acting Vice-chancellor and the Bursar of Obafemi Awolowo University while in EFCC premises being interrogated on the allegations levelled against them, Unions on OAU Campus were in front of the premises protesting the invitation of Prof. Elujoba for interrogation.
Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Non-academic Staff union, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, National Association of Academic Technologists, and Students Union were present raising placards as a means of protest against what they refer as the "Wrong interrogation of Prof. ELUJOBA".
In an interview with our correspondent, A member of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, OAU, Mr Abu A. L. Adamu had this to say :
"Before now, the unions(SSANU, NASU) have written to EFCC on double deduction of PenCom, two-step differentials and 15%.These petitions have been forwarded to EFCC severally but was not acted upon by the agency until the last administration who are the perpetrators of the offence left.
The Acting VC who has come to redeem the masses of the University and he set up a task force to investigate all monies that are being owed and this monies were not paid into TSA.
The money the Acting VC used in paying Workers' hazards allowances was discovered in a domicile account operated by the last Vice-chancellor, Bursar and Registrar.
We even have information that there are some hidden accounts somewhere operated by the last administration led by Prof Bamitale Omole... "
SSANU chairman, Mr Oketunde while granting interview with our correspondent had this to say :
We were reliably informed that EFCC summoned the Acting Vice-chancellor, Prof. Elujoba, for questioning and when we got to know about that-we feel it is expedient of us to show our displeasure.
The Acting Vice-chancellor has done nothing wrong as a matter of fact, the money he used to pay staff hazards allowances we learnt was lying fallow somewhere earmarked for nothing.
He has been doing very well and that is why we are here. We will ensure that he is not detained. EFCC's action is a wrong step in the wrong direction. Funny enough, we have forwarded several petitions to them as regards the deduction of pencom, two-step differentials, and 15% and nothing was done..."
The Electoral Commission Chairman of OAU Students Union, Mr Fadele Olusola had this to say :
"We are here for no other reason but to stand by our Acting VC who has been like a messiah to us. First, he de-proscribed our union, renovated hostels, running a smooth academic calendar, paying staff money as at when due, visiting hostels et al. In fact, he has done things that the last administration couldn't do. So, we feel that EFCC is taking a wrong step because we know that our VC has done nothing wrong. We will not leave this place until our VC is released.. "
Some members of the unions Posited and clamored that the last administration led by Bamitale Omole be probed.
We reliably gathered that the Acting Vice-chancellor forwarded letters to the school's Chancellor and Minister of Education before disbursing the said #1.4bn.
At around 9pm,we were reliably informed by our sources that Prof Elujoba has been freed on the grounds of administrative bail.

The President of the All Nigeria United Nations Students and Youths Association(ANUNSA, Obafemi Awolowo University Chapter, Akingunola Joel Opeyemi, has expressed his opinions on the recent financial claims saga rocking the University.
In an extensive interview with one of our correspondents, Mr Akingunola had this to say as regards the financial claims saga:
" The case should be carefully looked into as "corruption" is one of the major issues hindering many African countries from achieving the collective target set by the UN for member countries to hit by 2030. All parties should get the facts straight and appropriate consequential action be taken based on the discovered facts."
Mr Akingunola also examined the issue as regards its effect(s) on the reinstatement of OAU's Students' Union where he opined thus :
This issue(The financial claims saga) should in no way hamper the smooth process of granting the legal rights of students to collectively protect their interests. The process preceding the election should in no way be stopped or delayed as several cases of social injustice, insecurity and others are common place ever since the union was proscribed. "
Both issues should be addressed simultaneously and none should hinder the other.
It would be recalled that on the 22nd of October 2016, the Vice-Dean of the Division of Students Affairs, OAU, made it known at an event which held on OAU's soil that the last administration of the suspended Students' union were allocated 2.5million naira by the University's management which they expended in just three days.
The claim by the Vice-Dean has been countered by the immediate past Financial Secretary of the union. He alleged that Dr. Afolabi's statement was nothing but false, this he did in a public release issued and signed by him (Olajide Adeyanju Ayodeji).
Rt.Hon Adebowale Miftau(Speaker, PSSRC)
Akintokun Akinyemi(suspended General Secretary, NAPSS-OAU)
By Omole Isaac.
The parliament of the National Association of Political Science Students , OAU, on 21st of October 2016 suspended indefinitely the President and General Secretary of the department's association.
The Political Science Students Representatives Council(PSSRC) gave reasons why the suspension had to take place and it made it known in a public release signed and co-signed by its speaker and clerk, Rt.Hon. Adebowale Miftau and Hon. Lateef Basirat.
The house(Political Science Students Representatives Council ) gave the reasons for the suspension of the President, Effiong Samuel Enoch(Samsynthesis) as follows :
1. The President failed to attend parliamentary plenary sittings, and he was invited for a sitting which he ended up not attending.
2.The President increased Freshers' annual dues without ratification by the house or congress.
3. The President unilaterally took decisions without the knowledge of the Executive council.
4.The President failed to report to the speaker of the Departmental association and the house on his engagements on behalf of the Association.
5. The President failed to implement the resolutions of the parliament(PSSRC) on sensitive issues affecting the existence of the association(National Association of Political Science Students, OAU chapter).
6.The Failure of the President to disburse monies to the house, monies meant for the effective running of the parliament as an independent arm.
However, the house stated that the General Secretary, Akintokun Akinyemi David(Y'flows), was suspended due to the following :
1.His inability to renew the association at the Division of Students' Affairs.
2. His inability to renew the association which Incapacitated the Financial Secretary of association from opening a bank account for the Association.
Radar news network put a call through to Mr Effiong Samuel Enoch(Samsynthesis), the embattled President, and he failed to give a definite reply as to why the house suspended him and his view(s) as regards his suspension.
Also, all efforts to get information from Mr Akintokun(The suspended General Secretary) proved abortive as he declined giving any information on the subject matter while on a telephone conversation with one of our correspondents.
A student of the Department of Political Science, Ibikunle Mohammed, while reacting to the suspension of the President and General Secretary of had this to tell our correspondent :
" If the gold could got rust, then what should we expect of an iron? The complaints of other executive members that were present at the sitting affirm the fact that the president does not know his onions and to this end I believe that his indefinite suspension is justified.
On suspension of y-flows. He his generally not diligent and not that alone, he equally abridge the constitution. Thus suspending him is simply fine and apt".
